The GC52 Logo appears on televisions, computers, and all other types of viewing devices at its normally scheduled time. Lead Anchor Dan McMahon sits at his news desk, steam rising off his mug of tea. The setting sun sparkles off the crown jewel of the City of Tomorrow in the background. The GC52 intro music begins to dim as the actual program begins as Dan turns to the camera with a smile on his face.
Dan: Good Morning, Good Afternoon, and Good Evening to all our wonderful viewers from the docks of Coast City to the furthest reaches of Oa, you are watching the multiverse’s best news show that brings you the news that you need to know! As always, I’m your host, Dan McMahon, doing my part to bring you up to the minute updates on the worlds you live in!
Dan is quiet for a moment as a memorial image of Ra’s Al Ghul appears over his shoulder.
Dan: Every death is a tragedy. No one should have their life taken from them no matter their sins. Ra’s Al Ghul was one of the FBI’s most wanted for many years. A well-known eco-terrorist with a strong belief that the world would be much better off with a lot fewer people on it. Calling him anything less than a monster would be inaccurate. I’m not here to say that Ra’s deserves pity or outrage for his murder at the hands of Deathstroke. What Ra’s also was among those other things is a father. A grandfather. Someone who wanted the world to survive. Even if the way he went about it was sinister. He was turning himself in and planned to share his knowledge of the Lazarus Pits. Those are the pools that have kept him alive for thousands of years supposedly, think of the medical advancements that could have been made. But now those possibilities are as silent as Al Ghul himself.
Only a few hours later, Deathstroke Inc. was under siege by what some are saying is a league of shadows. Ninjas descended upon Deathstroke and his people despite Deathstroke himself saying that he is not at fault for this. Batman was seen with Robin before taking off to find Talia. You know… Robin seemed to be… upset about this more than one would figure. But let’s check in with Terrence for a report on our other Batman.
The video feed cuts to Terrence leaning against a balcony overlooking New York City. He’s using a tablet to fly a drone, the video feed cuts to the camera footage of the drone.
Terrence: The continued first adventure of The Batman takes a dastardly turn. I’m using a drone to inspect the current location of where we believe the Batman to be. He’s been inspecting the killer Manray whose been the focus of both Vigilante Justice and the Police Department.
Alright…let’s get some footage from the drone. It appears that the Batman is trying to talk to Manray…but to no avail as the two are now beginning to fight! Batman just departed the scene escaping out of a window. Maybe it was a tactical retreat for the young Brooding Hero…
The video feed returns to Terrence on the balcony as he carries on his report.
Elsewhere, we’ve got more information and the conclusion to some of the Police Department raids and it seems to be going well. They got a ton of Black Market guns off the street and it’s all in conjunction with The Batman. The Fox Family seems to be adjusting well to the city, most of them are making very important news philanthropy-wise, and others as far as my sources can tell me, are acclimating themselves to the city given what they left behind and Gotham.
With that, the broadcast returns to Dan in the studio.
Dan: Thanks for that update, Terrence. We now go live to Bobby with an update on one of our newest heroes, Monkey Prince.
The video feed cuts, showing a screen of what appears to be a fight between Robin, the Boy Wonder, and the Monkey Prince. They’re fighting over what appears to be a guy who’s tied up and held upside-down.
Bobby: Well GC52, looks like we got the fight of the century! The Monkey Prince is fighting Robin! Look at them go! There’s an elegance to their movements. A gracefulness to how they move. It’s so fluid. It’s like watching a badass martial arts film…but it’s all in front of my eyes. Jeffy, are you capturing this?
Jeffy: Right on, sir! Who do you reckon would win?
Bobby: Ah, you’re entertaining a who would win scenario I see. Since you asked the question, who do you think would win?
Jeffy: Robin. He’s worked with Batman before! The guy’s got a lot of experience! The boy wonder has been trained by the World’s Greatest Detective who, if rumors are true, has traveled the world! He’s learnt from the best of the best. So I think Robin’s gonna defeat the Monkey Prince.
In the meantime, Robin and the Monkey Prince are still fighting.
Bobby: Respectfully Jeffy, I must disagree. And there’s something intriguing about this new superhero. He’s mysterious but there’s confidence to him. He reminds me of Sun Wukong, that figure of legend from Journey to the West. His confidence has a defiant brashness to it. He knows what he’s doing.
Monkey Prince: Why don’t you ask my burp clouds?
Robin: Your what–?!
The whole area’s engulfed in gas. Bobby and Jeffy cannot see the fight that is going on.
Bobby: Good lord! I can’t see a thing!
Jeffy: Stay calm, sir! Stay where you are. I’ll get to you.
Bobby: OH NO MY EYES CAUGHT THE CLOUDS! HELP! HELP!
The video feed goes dark for a moment following the chaos before springing back into life, showing Dan in the studio.
Dan: Well that was odd. I’m sure Bobby will be fine… Now, who’ve we got next? Ah yes, an update on the Batgirls of Gotham. Over to you Adam.
The camera cuts to show Adam in his apartment in The Hill, one of the many districts of Gotham City.
Adam: Hello everyone, and welcome back to The Hill. The Batgirls’ defeat of Tutor didn’t keep the streets quiet for long as our heroes were chased through the streets by the Saints, those last remnants of Simon Saints Magistrate agents. With the help of the redheaded Batgirl on a slick motorbike, the Saints didn’t stand a chance, especially after the Batgirls recruited a new team member, the Saints robot dog now named Fido. Now aware of the mysterious Seers’ manipulations of them, the Saints were left tied up in the streets for the GCPD, although I have no doubt we’ll see those armored menaces again soon.
Back to Tutor, his supposed imprisonment didn’t last long at all as he once again returned to the streets and screens of Gotham to lecture away but with the help of Fido, tracking him was simple. The Batgirls were also able to find the true identity of Tutor, an average art student named Cody Kline who was exposed to Scarecrow gas and was manipulated by his art therapist, none other than Charles Dante, the man with whom the Batgirls left Tutor with after his first defeat. And on a completely unrelated note, the college ex-boyfriend of former GCPD commissioner Jim Gordon’s daughter, Barabara.
Past GC52 footage appears on the screen showing Hill reporter Grace O’Halloran on the roof of Arkham Asylum under Tutors control.
Adam: As our Batgirls headed to the now-abandoned Arkham Asylum, they came face-to-face with the Tutor’s army, including GC52s own Grace O’Halloran. With the scary Batgirl prepared to take on Tutor’s brainwashed masses all on her own, the purple one went after Tutor himself. But what about the redhead Batgirl and the rumored villain Spellbinder who may well be Charles Dante? Find out next time! Back to you Dan.
Footage from Themyscira plays as the center of the coliseum collapses under the four champions participating in The Trial of the Amazons before cutting to Dan in the studio.
Dan: What you just saw was from earlier today after the four champions were given their tools by their groups Oracle. A crumby way to kick off a big trial tournament-type thing. Reports said the four had to fight the mother of monsters in catacombs below the island. She’s said to be a large sexy snake woman who can grow more heads if you cut one off. And I just said large sexy snake women on television… sounds like the new intern is going to get a stern talking to after this. Anyway… when they returned, the island had descended into chaos. Things are not looking great for the trial but we will keep you informed as more information comes in.
