Mortal Rite – Winter 2022
Mortal Rite is a third-person, action RPG with Souls-Like combat that aims to breathe new life into the Rogue-Lite and dungeon crawler genres. The game focuses on characters with unique abilities and up to 5 player Co-Op.
This is one of those subtle gems I stumbled upon on Tiktok while endlessly doom-scrolling. I was immediately enraptured with the way they implemented fighting magic in ways I haven’t seen before. It led me down a rabbit hole of consuming every piece of media Round Toast Studios had put out about the game. While I’m not a huge Souls franchise fanmoth, I’m willing to give this game a go for the sheer beauty and battle mechanics. This game looks absolutely stunning. In particular, the way lighting works (magic, torches, natural light, etc.) is so well thought out and makes it feel so real despite some of the exaggerated body proportions that keep us out of the uncanny valley. I’d highly recommend keeping an eye out on this bad boy.

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet – November 18, 2022
Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet are the first open-world RPGs in the Pokémon series. As you enjoy the hallmarks of the series—meeting, teaming up with, battling, training, and trading Pokémon—you’ll be able to immerse yourself in a newly evolved adventure.
There is at least one game a week coming out between September and November on my Wishlist Wednesday. That isn’t even accounting for the random Indie games I find and get addicted to. The amount of great-looking games is staggering. So staggering in fact I forgot about my favorite childhood franchise – Pokémon. I can’t complain though, having an abundance of games is a good thing! And it doesn’t help, but Pokémon hasn’t really caught my attention in years. The only game I was excited about was the recent spin-off, Pokémon Legends: Arceus. That excitement was mainly due to it actually looking and feeling different, which was my main problem with the franchise. The lack of evolution.
However Pokemon: Scarlet and Violet actually feels like the next step of the franchise on the Nintendo consoles. Scarlet and Violet are what Sword and Shield should have been. Nonetheless, the multiple changes to the system make me excited to actually pick up one of my favorite franchises. It helps that my wife wants to play multiplayer as well!

God of War: Ragnarok – November 9, 2022
Kratos and Atreus must journey to each of the Nine Realms in search of answers as Asgardian forces prepare for a prophesied battle that will end the world. Along the way they will explore stunning, mythical landscapes, and face fearsome enemies in the form of Norse gods and monsters. The threat of Ragnarök grows ever closer. Kratos and Atreus must choose between their own safety and the safety of the realms.
I feel like this one needs no explanation. Nonetheless, when 2018’s God of War dropped that was my enter life: I lived and breathed it. And with God of War: Ragnarök dropping in early November it looks like that will happen all over again.
