AKA – 2022

Find inner peace in a small, open-world game. On these carefully handcrafted islands, you can take a nap on a giant monster, feed baby dragons, take care of the fauna and flora… …but demons from your past might come back to remind you what you want to forget.

Hopelessly charming, we’ve got another cozy game to add to the docket. While it seems the stakes are fairly low, it’s coupled with a healthy array of engaging mechanics. Farming and crafting are such staples to comfy genre, and I am curious to see how they manage it. From the gameplay trailers, there’s also a great variety of fun locations to scout out and complete quests that have me itching to immerse myself in—from steamy hot springs, to beautiful waterscapes, to great heights with accompanying views. I really love the perspective choice alongside the art style; it’s illustrative while maintaining a unique level of detail and texture. It’s one of those that’ll be a pleasure to experience the visuals alongside familiar gameplay in a new environment with quaint quests and quality NPCs. Definitely adorable and explorable.

Gotham Knights – October 21

Batman is dead. A new expansive, criminal underworld has swept the streets of Gotham City. It is now up to the Batman Family – Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin – to protect Gotham, bring hope to its citizens, discipline to its cops, and fear to its criminals.

Gotham Knights is a weird one for me. I honestly can’t remember the last game that I was so wishy-washy on before their release. Personally, I want to leave my opinions there as I’m writing this Wishlist Wednesday, and my head feels like I got hit with a baseball bat…But the people want their entertainment.

So, the question on all our minds is, why am I so wishy-washy on Gotham Knights? Well, the footage I’ve seen hasn’t really wowed me much. During a time when multiple games are coming out that have wowed and excited me, Gotham Knights have done absolutely none of that. The RPG elements and action look okay, but nothing has sold me. I do like the main cast, though; that seems exciting. But other than it being a Batman Universe game, I honestly could care less. Plus, I absolutely despise The Court of Owls. They’re a big factor for me not being excited, and I hate how many people want them in almost everything Batman.

Now, I know this has turned for the negative, but trust me, I don’t dislike Gotham Knights, but in the sea of how many amazing games are coming out, it’s low on my list. I’m really hoping that a new trailer drops, that makes me have to buy it. Or I’ll just wait a while and buy on sale. However, if it runs great on the steam deck, there is a small possibility I’ll buy it on day one, because I have no self-control.
