Star Wars: The Prequel Trilogy

This is it, our 100th episode! We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for listening, whether this is your first episode or your hundredth. Jake and Dan dive into the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy!

Before I write the description for the episode, I just wanted to write a thank you note. We thanked Mike for essentially running the show in the episode and a few others so we can save those thanks for the pod.

I just want to thank you, whoever you are. A friend of someone involved in the episode, someone who has listened since the SuperSons days, or a new reader/listener. Every single person who takes the time to listen to our show or read the work we do, thank you. Thank you to every person who has listened to this weird show. 100 episodes may seem like a small feat but it’s huge for us.

We’ve done so many things we would have never imagined before this show. We will continue to kick in the doors of everything we can to make nerdy stuff one big party of all types of people. Having a constant in my life has been a saving grace when things are hard. Knowing there is something to look forward to from recording to listening to what Mike does with the openings, it’s been something that has kept me going on moments I didn’t know what was coming in life. Having somewhere I can just be myself with people who want the same has been the best thing that’s ever happened to me.

All we want to do is to help you find something you love. There are a lot of people who would rather close doors to things to people that they think “don’t fit” in their spaces. That’s why we are the GateCrashers. We are doing everything we can to tear down those barriers.

We try to offer different things for different people. Some people don’t vibe with written reviews and would rather read something that’s character driven, we got that. Some people want something they can listen to in order to forget the world for a bit, we got that. Some people want a place where they can express themselves without the confines of the way people think things should be done, we got that too. Whatever you need, GateCrashers can try to be that. A platform for you to talk about something you love or to share deep personal connections with things that have shaped you into the person you are.

That’s why we chose Star Wars. Star Wars has been something that has shaped most people on the GateCrashers team in one way or another. From two nerds swinging lightsabers and recording it in their front yards to two brothers playing countless hours of Jedi Academy, Star Wars has always been with us. Now we are sharing that love with you.

Through the entire month of July, we will be featuring all sorts of writers talking about the Star Wars universe, the stories, and their connections to it. We wanted to offer our space to anyone who wanted to talk about that galaxy far far away. In recent years, there has been so much anger and hatred from portions of the fan base. We know we can’t solve that, but what we can do is share our joy and those who want to talk about Star Wars in a place where they can feel free to be themselves. Star Wars is the basis of so many of my relationships and happiest memories.

I want to share that joy with you. These episodes are to celebrate a franchise that has brought us happiness our entire lives. So we are here to share that with you.

May the force be with you.

Dan.

Rebellions are built on hope. Fitting that the end of our Star Wars month is about the story that sparked the fire that freed the Galaxy from the Empire. Tim Daniel joins Dan to talk about their favorite Star Wars film, Rogue One. We talk far too long about Saw Gerrera, the themes of the film, and what makes it stand out amongst giants.
