Koss KPH40 Retro Headphones

It seems like wired headphones have become the big craze these days on social media and among hip people. I would go through wired headphones like they were going out of style when I was younger. So many were flimsy and cheap that they constantly felt like they were about to break, and I kept replacing them for my iPod. As I try to return to more analog styles of music listening, I have also resumed using wired headphones. The Koss KPH40s were a sure shot to get me back to wired listening. They have that timeless look, design, and feel that make them as iconic as they are.

Their sleek, retro design and bright orange ear pads make them stand out as one of the most iconic headphones out there today. You instantly know what you are looking at when you see them. I love the simple band design of the headpiece. I was worried at first that they wouldn’t fit my boulder-sized head, but they fit perfectly once I adjusted them. I also replaced the ear cushions with Koss’s oversized cushions for the KPH40 headphones, so they fit my head perfectly.

I have been using them, attached to an MP3 player I picked up, on my daily walks. They have served me extremely well, and I have been really impressed by how they sound for the price of $30 dollars. While the headphones of my youth were around the $20 mark, they would break as if that was what they were designed for, but with daily use, sweat, and stretching for my big head, the KPH40 have survived every trial I have put them through. They also stay on my head when I bring them to the gym, which is a huge plus for me in headphones.

The KPH40s feature detailed high-fidelity audio with an ultra-wide 15- 25,000 Hz frequency response with their 60 Ohm dynamic drivers to provide stellar sound. They sound way above their weight class for how much you pay for them. They also have a lifetime warranty, which feels like icing on the cake.

You have probably seen the KPH40s on social media, on some cool hipster or something, but I am here to tell you they are actually worth picking up as budget headphones that don’t sound budget in the slightest. I have been beyond impressed with everything Koss does in the audio space, and these are a testament to quality and craftsmanship.
