This past weekend, 2026’s New York Comic Con was jam packed with announcements and more details on things that were announced previously.

I went around and asked the team here at GateCrashers about what we’re most excited for, and while there’s some overlap, there’s also unique picks amongst everyone!

Zee’s NYCC 2026 Comic Picks

[I get 5 picks on this because it’s my article, screw the haters]

1Batman #15 cover
2James Bond by Grant Morrison cover
3Shadow of the Bat cover
4Midnight X-Men #4 cover
5Maystorm cover
  • 1Batman #15: I remember when I interviewed Matt Fraction, he told me #15 was something he was looking forward to and that got me hyped. The solicits had me excited for the premise, but hearing Fraction describe what it’s all about – specifically it being a Columbo-esque mystery of Batman trying to solve his own murder sounds fun as hell. Helps that this is my favourite ongoing too :]
  • 2IDW’s James Bond by Grant Morrison: I’ve watched the Bond movies growing up, but First Light by IO Interactive (read Jordan’s review here) really sucked me into the franchise. On the other side here, Morrison has a really cool spy one-shot at Marvel about Nick Fury called “Nick’s World…” (illustrated by Manuel Gutiérrez), and also the Filth (with Chris Weston and Gary Erskine), and also Batman (with such a large variety of great artists) so I’m pumped to see what Morrison adds to Bond.
  • 3Shadow of the Bat: Deniz Camp and Javier Rodríguez’s Absolute Martian Manhunter is one of my favourite comics DC has ever published, so to get this team doing my favourite superhero is a dream come true. And it’s inspired by Will Eisner’s The Spirit? I mean come on, it doesn’t get better than this.
  • 4Midnight X-Men #4: With how good the first issue was (read my review here) and the solicit describing Scott Summers as “The One-Eyed Ronin”, I was feeling things I forgot the X-Men could make me feel.
  • 5Maystorm: I’ve loved everything Peach Momoko has done at Marvel, and Ultimate X-Men was such a beautiful ride, this was a delightful surprise because that book really did feel like it had more, so I can’t wait to see what Momoko’s got cooking!

Ethan’s NYCC 2026 Comic Picks

1Captain Marvel cover
2ROAM cover
3Batman cover
  • 1Captain Marvel: I’ve been really interested in seeing what’s next for Carol Danvers after the surprisingly great Captain Marvel: Dark Past, but I never figured we’d a creative team as great as G. Willow Wilson and Rachael Stott. It’s an instant buy, and new Marvel EiC Stephen Wacker’s advice to GWW of not writing towards the 5-issue arc that’s been an awful standard for the company in recent times has me even more excited.
  • 2ROAM: Paper Girls was one of the defining (and best) comics of the 2010s, so anything that saw its creative team of Brian K. Vaughan and Cliff Chiang reframing would pique my curiosity no matter what. That it sees them taking their well proven talents of creating defining stories of teens growing up and adding a does of superheroics is just icing on the cake.
  • 3Batman: It’s Matt Fraction and Jorge Jimenez doing a Columbo-esque murder/mystery where Batman has to solve the assassination of Bruce Wayne while using his Matches Malone disguise. Need I say more?

Carmine’s NYCC 2026 Comic Picks

1Swamp Thing: Hallowed Ground cover
2X-Orcists cover
3OMAC cover
  • 1The Swamp Thing: Hallowed Ground: I’m a simple man. I see the moss-laden manifestation of nature getting freaky and I pull the book until the run ends. (Steve Foxe, I hope you get WEIRD with it!)
  • 2X-Orcists: Showing me a book with muties is no different than holding an iPad up at a neanderthal: I have no way to appreciate what I’m looking at. But that book’s concept has this neanderthal INTRIGUED. See ya next month!
  • 3OMAC: Do you understand how depraved one must be, to be excited for an OMAC book? averts gaze My only complaint is that it’s a one-shot. Also: DENYS COWAN!!!

  • 1X-Orcists: About time Ashley Allen gets an ongoing after the last few Magik mini’s, especially with Maddy Pryor involved.

1Absolute Justice cover
2Grant Morrison’s James Bond cover
3Hulk War Infernal Rage cover
  • 1Absolute Justice: I think it’s going to very interesting to see how the first crossover event occurs in this universe and I’m excited to see this cast is imagined under the pens of Aaron and Ferreyra.
  • 2Grant Morrison’s James Bond: It’s fun to see Bond getting a new adaptation and I think Morrison is an excellent choice as a writer on a project like this.

1Batman: Shadow of the Bat cover
2Maystorm cover
3Roam cover
  • 1Shadow of the Bat: Javier Rodriguez invents a new visual language with every project, and the preview pages for Shadow of the Bat look like he’s done it again.
  • 2Maystorm: I’m happy for Peach Momoko getting to return to her breakout character, and i’m happy for myself getting to read it.
  • 3Roam: “Superheroics as entry into adulthood” is a favorite trope of mine, and I’m excited to see BKV and Cliff Chiang tackle it through the filter of tokusatsu.

1Absolute Justice cover
2Superboy Prime Special #1 cover
3The Swamp Thing: Hallowed Ground cover
  • 1Absolute Justice: After all the on going and one shot comics in the Absolute Universe it’s hard not to be pumped up about their first major crossover.
  • 2Superboy Prime Special #1: I loved the issues of Prime in the mainline Superman book I’m curious to see where his story goes.
  • 3The Swamp Thing: Hallowed Ground: I’ve been looking for a jumping on point for the Swamp Thing books so a new series has me floored to start reading.

1Absolute Justice cover
2Starfire cover
3Shadow of the Bat cover
  • 1Absolute Justice: I wasn’t nearly as confident about Jason Aaron writing this before I read the issues of Absolute Superman drawn by Juan Ferreyra, but goddamn am I excited now. Also, making it a 5-issue limited event is smart.
  • 2Starfire: You had me at Alyssa Wong and Belén Ortega. Describing it as s “Red Sonja meets One Piece” is just icing on the cake.
  • 3Shadow of the Bat: The Javier Rodriguez art shown would be enough on its own. Knowing it’s an Absolute Martian Manhunter reunion with Deniz Camp has me all the way on board.

GateCrashers will be here to crash down those doors and have coverage for the comics listed here and more, so follow us and stay tuned!
