Free Comic Book Day 2026
This Saturday, the May 2nd, is Free Comic Book Day 2026 (also known as “Comic Giveaway Day”)! So what does that mean? Well basically exactly what it sounds like, it’s a day to get free comics.
So I can just walk into my local comic book store and start taking stuff?
Not quite! Each store has their own approach. Some give away whatever they have left over from the week, while others might have a special “free comic” section set up. It’s always best to check with your local store about their FCBD plans.
Every publisher takes a different approach! Some like Marvel, like to do a few short stories teasing their upcoming stories, like The Amazing Spider-Man #1000 or the upcoming Avengers: Armageddon event. Others, like IDW, are re-releasing older #1s to give you a tease of the book. DC are doing a sampler, giving you a short look at some of their recent #1s in the “Next Level” branding.
