My Adventures with Superman S3 Review
I’ve been following My Adventures with Superman or as it’s been lovingly dubbed by my girlfriend “Kawaii Superman” since its first season so it was truly a privilege to watch this season early. My Adventures with Superman S3 kicks off very closely to where the second season left off, following on from Brainiac’s defeat at the hands of Superman and Supergirl.

What I’ve always enjoyed about this show is its true love for its source material but its willingness to make keep things fresh by making changes here and there. It also does not shy away from the relationships and romance between these characters. Superman stories work really well when there is romance in the air: both The 1978 and 2025 films capture this well. I find that Lois and Clark in this show have an amazing dynamic, one that feels well suited to this modern retelling. Lois is still the career driven and stubborn one to Clark’s hopeless romantic. My Adventures with Superman S3 really focuses in on that dynamic. Clark is ready to have a serious relationship and start settling down. Lois on the other hand is enjoying being young and the freedom she has. Their relationship is put to the test throughout this season, and they are constantly forced to reckon with what their future could look like. This future, and what it could be, is one of the major overarching themes of this season.

Jimmy and Kara on the other hand are competing for each other’s affection. Kara likes Jimmy but Jimmy’s insecurities are preventing him from accepting this. It’s a well done dynamic and shows a side of Jimmy Olsen that I really enjoyed. Kara also is learning about Earth and herself while trying to process her feelings. I really enjoy this version of Supergirl, due to being raised on Krypton, and then being under the control of Brainiac, she is often awkward and aloof. Her speech is oddly formal and she regularly calls people by their full name. She is very charming and I’m glad to be getting as much time with her as we are.

This season also introduces a lot of new characters to the mix, including Superboy, Hank Henshaw AKA Cyborg Superman, and Bizarro. All of these characters have very important roles in My Adventures with Superman S3. Bizarro is discovered by Clark, Lois, Jimmy, and Kara trapped in an underground lab and is brought to the surface world. He learns about being a hero from watching Superman. Hank is one of the main antagonists of the season and is maybe my favorite version of the character, with an imposing screen presence and can be quite frightening. Superboy’s arc is crucial to the season as well, but you will have to watch that for yourself when the show premieres on June 14. One character who isn’t new but gets a lot more to do this season is Lex Luthor. Lex is a hard character to get wrong. He’s a mad genius who is afraid of what Superman could mean for humanity. This show does a great job at diving into a Lex who isn’t quite fully realized yet but where he leaves off could lead to something really interesting in the coming seasons.

This season also directly adapts some things right out of the comics. With Reign of the Supermen being its primary influence. This was a comics storyline that takes place after The Death of Superman, r=that saw several replacements step up to fill the void left by Superman. They did a truly interesting thing when adapting this story and it’s having Superman alive to deal with the doppelgängers head on. This show does dive into one of my least favorite Superman story tropes that has been done again and again but the way that they go about it is very unique so it does get a slight pass from me. The other older Superman trope that this uses really well is Jimmy constantly being turned into different monsters or creatures. There are also some moments that feel akin to what is happening in Dan Slott’s Superman Unlimited currently.

The Easter Eggs sprinkled throughout this show are well done as well, being scattered throughout both in dialogue and in the background. One that really caught my eye was a Kord Technologies billboard. I would love to see a Blue Beetle join this universe. The best Easter Egg is a reference to the next show set in this universe which is My Adventures with Green Lantern, which will feature Jessica Cruz as its lead protagonist.

My Adventures With Superman S3 also has the strongest animation of the show so far, and from the current Superhero TV fair. After this most recent season of Invincible, it was nice to see a show with shadows, impact frames, and flying animations. The voice acting is also stronger than ever. The whole cast works really well together but it’s also what sells the relationship of the characters.
This season you can enjoy Toyman in a Gundam Style Suit, Kent Family Halloween, Mr. Mxyzptlk’s divorce, Teen Titans cosplay, Challengers of the Unknown couples costumes, Pa Kent’s Famous Snickerdoodles, an almost terminator-esque subplot, plus a lot more I can’t talk about here but it’s a wild ride. This show works for new and old fans alike. I look forward to more of this show or anything else they decide to set in this universe. The first episode releases on June 14 and new episodes release weekly after that.
Clark has truly become Superman and made peace with his Kryptonian origins – he’s ready to settle down! But Lois, who has finally become the Planet’s star reporter, is NOT. Jimmy has evolved from freelance photographer to celebrity journalist—but he’s still intimidated by the romantic attentions of the newly arrived Kara Zor‑El, who’s trying to find her place on Earth. In the latest action, comedy, and romance-packed season, this found family will have to confront powerful new enemies that challenge Superman, threaten their future, and test the bonds holding them together. Can our heroes save their tomorrow–before it destroys today?
