Tee Franklin is back, baby, along with a bunch of talented humans to continue the colorful animated world of Harley Quinn in The Real Sidekicks of New Gotham. The team did the right thing by bringing Tee back to give us more explicit Harlivy like we’ve never seen before! Tee brings so many delights to the comic industry; representing and celebrating queerness, disabilities, and my favorite, medicinal marijuana! The “Tawny Tawks” intervals were a nice touch as she was one of my favorites from the show. I love the idea of Gotham’s heroes and villains being monitored for TV or Radio – just as we do over at GC52!

Once more, Max Sarin has us swooning with his adorable, vibrant art. With panels of his work going viral most weeks. He truly captures the sweet essence of Harlivy and that doting feeling loved ones have for each other. Filled with rich, textured colors by Marissa Louise – I adore this iconic duo on the Harley team!
The Real Sidekicks of New Gotham really branches out to explore each character, furthering their development for the now-confirmed future of Harley Quinn Season 4. O’Neill Jones does an incredible job and brought our long anticipated “Double Date” issue to life. She stands by what they say regarding being an art nerd with a story to tell. They drew it extremely well and should be proud.
I’m loving the foreshadowing of Oracle in Batgirl’s story, as well as the universe expanding with more characters front and center! We get an unexpected surprise in Conner Shin’s “Showtime” issue that humanized Clayface for me. Despite being a meta-human, he is still very much human at heart. Logan Faerber adds a certain flare to his art that makes it look like the animation is coming to life with each fluid stroke.

I thoroughly enjoyed Jamiesen Borak’s “Two Jokers” opening an entirely new can of potential worms and having us question the Harley Quinn Animated Universe. What more could happen within? The Real Sidekicks of New Gotham is packed with new material that expands the universe in exciting ways.
We also need to give a huge round of applause to our dear Taylor Esposito, who lettered the entire book, pulling everything together to present absolute perfection. You can’t have a comic without letters! Thanks, Taylor!
If you love the Harley Quinn show, can’t get enough of the characters, and want to delve deeper into the universe; go grab your copy of The Real Sidekicks of New Gotham! I cannot wait to see what more goodie Tee has in store for us!
