(Seriously, there are written explicit descriptions of sexual content as well as some serious sweat-inducing hotness splashed across some amazing pages curated for this article. My eyes are burning, and I am going to hell for how much I enjoyed putting this together, but I do not mind. You should not read this at work, around children, on public transit, or in front of your pastor. But if you are a pastor, you can read. Just don’t be mad about it because you are being warned.)
Are you looking to spice up your comic reading life? A brave group of gate-crashing deviants answered a call to shout out and defend their favorite horny comics, and we came up with a list from across several genres – not just romance – that are multiple flavors of kinky fun. Why? Because sex has a place in comics. In some cases, sexual exploration drives a story forward. Other times, portrayals can be a cultural commentary. And, yes, sometimes something can be about sex for the sake of being about sex – there is nothing wrong with that!
If you are a bit timid about sexual content but still want to get a taste, don’t worry. We’ve listed these from least to most likely to get you kicked out of your book club.
(Pssst. By the way…Batman totally goes down.)
Unnatural
Genre: Sensual Thriller, Anthropomorphic
Image Comics
Mirka Andolfo
Unnatural, written, drawn, and colored by Mirka Andolfo, tells the story of Leslie, a pig girl, as she approaches her 25th birthday. In Leslie’s world, the government strictly regulates relationships; interspecies and same-gender relationships are prohibited, marriage is strongly encouraged by 25, and the penalties for violating the law are harsh. Against this backdrop, Leslie finds herself dreaming of a tall, strong mysterious wolfman, and those dreams are intense. To find out what those dreams mean, you have to read the comic, and you should! Andolfo has created a fascinating world to expose the cruelty and hypocrisy of government intrusion into the sex lives of its citizens, but, alongside Leslie, she has also created THE SEXIEST COMIC BOOK CHARACTER OF ALL TIME, NO EXCEPTIONS.
I’ll admit that, sexually speaking, I have the most vanilla of tastes. I could blame my parents or being raised a Catholic, but at 42, I’ve blamed enough on both of those things, so let’s just take it at face value. I am not a furry (no judgment if you are, I’m not here to kink shame anyone), but Leslie…from the opening panels of issue #1 (which you can read for free on Image’s website), where she’s shown nude, save for a see-through veil/dress, in all her voluptuous, pig-girl glory is…quite stimulating.
Contains partial nudity and suggested sex, but no explicit content.

Wasted Space
Genre: Raunchy Space Opera, Sci Fi, Comedy
Vault Comics
Writer: Michael Moreci
Artist: Hayden Sherman
Colors: Jason Wordie
Letters: Jim Campbell
Supercharged Fuq Bot. Do I need to say more? I will.
Wasted Space is one of my favorite comics. I would not necessarily classify it as horny, but it is filled with raunchy humor as it follows a hot mess prophet – Billy, his Fuq Bot bestie – Dust (Daddy? I’m sorry…daddy?), and the sheltered-turned-rebellious Molly, who has visions of the future. Together, this dysfunctional trio must stop the end of all things. The dialogue is entertaining, colors sharp and engaging, and I was instantly drawn in by a brutally honest depiction of emotional intimacy between a group of friends. Loss and heartbreak. Love and…awkward horniness that comes with seeing your Fuq Bot friend naked and being mesmerized by his, erm, package. But the reason it makes this list comes down to this: Dust IS THE SEXIEST COMIC BOOK CHARACTER OF ALL TIME. NO EXCEPTIONS. He can wear nothing or anything, including rocking some tight, short biker shorts, and he can rock a mustache. They took what could have been a heartless robot and gave him emotional vulnerability. Why are you doing this to me? The team behind Wasted Space made me uncomfortably attracted to a robot, and I am afraid of robots. Thanks to Dust, I am very much on board with the development of robot sex-tech and far more open-minded to trying it, provided I can order one to custom specifications (see the Wasted Space Holiday Special cover).
I could say more, but my Dust fanfic isn’t going to write itself.
Contains no triple X content, no full nudity, is fairly tame yet manages to be horny.

Last Book You’ll Ever Read

Undressed Variant Cover Artists: Leila Leiz, Giada Marchisio, Corin Howell, Richard Pace, Vladimir Popov
Olivia Kade wrote an international bestselling book that is turning people towards their baser instincts – mainly in the form of violence. The Last Book You’ll Ever Read follows Olivia, a book author on tour, and her bodyguard, Conner, as humanity devolves into chaos. It is more feral than explicitly horny, but while sex is not a primary plot device like other comics on this list, it is worthy of inclusion because of how it is depicted in ways that speak to how our brains are wired and what society tells us about sex. In one scene, people indulge in lust at a bookstore as Olivia is preaching from her own twisted gospel, questioning the idea of following rules or lust, being civil or wild. She dares people to give in to instincts, and in a society that values self-control, sex becomes an act of rebellion.
After a perilous situation, Olivia and Conner give in to their desire. That is a very human experience. Our brains derive sexual arousal and fear from the same place. The adrenaline rush from being scared is real, as it is getting horny after a thrilling experience – not just a thing that happens in stories because sex sells. THERE IS SCIENCE BEHIND THIS! Yet, society tells us to control ourselves. Multiple sensual scenes have layers of emotion for the characters, even if the emotion is embracing their wildness and rejecting the rules.
I could keep going about the psychology of sex and how it is portrayed in LBYER, but one of my favorite things about this series is the art and inclusion of black bag variant covers. Vault Comics has blessed the masses with their Undressed covers! (Check out Money Shot and BARBARIC for more raunchy, delicious NSFW covers.) I do not need to read anything to turn into a feral beast when there is a delightful depiction of demonic lust on a cover.
Those images live rent-free in my sinner’s brain, and all self-control is already gone by the time I start reading.
Issues #1-#5 are available in digital formats. You can order Undressed Covers through your local comic shop. Make sure you catch up on the series and pre-order #6-8!
Contains full nudity, feral forest orgies, f/m, feral demon-like creature sex.

Sex Criminals
Genre: Crime, Comedy, Mystery
Image Comics
Writer: Matt Fraction
Artist: Chip Zdarsky
Sex Criminals answers a question I did not know I needed to be answered: what if my orgasms were so satisfying, they could stop time? Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky created a world where that type of satisfaction is possible for a librarian Suzie and her new boyfriend, Jon. When the library is about to lose funding, the two go on a daring sexcapade to steal money to save the library. Makes perfect sense. Great sex, stop time, steal from a bank. What could possibly go wrong? Suzie and Jon’s time-stopping orgasms are not exclusive, and a nefarious group does not want them taking advantage of such an awesome superpower. This story is hilarious and wonderfully awkward, with more laughs than moments of overwhelming horniness. What drew me into Sex Criminals is the exploration of female orgasm, especially how women learn their bodies when they are adolescents. Fraction and Zdarsky managed to depict those experiences in a way that reflects the uncomfortableness that goes along with learning our bodies, capturing the anxiety and confusion while making jokes. They balance out the sexual content by making sex fun. The new couple connects over their powers and gets into some shenanigans along the way, like stopping time at an adult store and rearranging dildos. Zdarky’s depictions of post-orgasm time-stopping glow are a dreamy success.
Contains masturbation, sex, orgies, threesomes, bondage.
Sex Criminals can be found digitally and is available in six volumes of trade paperbacks or three hardcover volumes.

Money Shot
Genre: Sci-fi, Comedy
Vault Comics
Writers: Tim Seeley & Sarah Beattie
Artists: Rebekah Isaacs, Caroline Leigh Layne
Colors: Kurt Michael Russell
Letters: Crank!
Money Shot is about academic scientists who realize traveling space and shooting porn with aliens is more effective at funding their research than applying for grant applications. It’s explicit, hilarious, absurd, and at times, weirdly heartfelt. The writers and artists certainly get creative with their portrayals of intimate moments. You have the entire cast sleeping together, of course, but also with creatures with all kinds of appendages and quirks and a really out-there scene with a centaur and a transmogrified alien that would make anyone blush. Despite the out-there premise, there are some incredibly human portrayals of sexuality with awkward communications, difficult relationship dynamics, and a wide variety of ways different people approach sex. For a comic about making porn, everything about Money Shot is significantly healthier in its approach than the actual porn industry, without the gross male-gaze lens that so much of the real-life content uses. Overall, Money Shot is a refreshingly sex-positive comedy following a delightful cast of characters.

Sunstone
Genre: Romance, Slice of Life
Top Cow Productions and Image Comics
Writer and artist: Stjepan Sejic
Sunstone, written, drawn, and colored by Stjepan Sejic, follows Lisa and Ally, a submissive and a domme, who meet online. After months of discussion about their personal kinks, they decide to meet in person for a planned erotic encounter, leading to an overall exploration of their sexuality and relationship, along with the safe, sane, and consensual practices and dynamics within the BDSM community. This is a comic for people who say, “I don’t know anything about BDSM,” and want to read a romance that is beautiful and stimulating. There are plenty of kinksters and sexperts who criticized a certain erotica trilogy for mischaracterizations of BDSM and portrayals of unhealthy relationships and poor communication. Sejic’s Sunstone does the opposite, looking at the world of BDSM in a way that addresses the reality of the lifestyle and relationship dynamics. But Sunstone embraces the larger picture, using the narrative to explain the thought processes behind people who choose to participate in BDSM activities. We mostly see this via an inner monologue by Lisa – a writer who is chronicling her sex adventures – and it unfolds as if the reader is a concerned, judgmental friend. It reflects the reality of conversations surrounding a misunderstood topic. Sejic’s lush illustrations of BDSM scenes, all while explaining the nuance of the topic, make this book visually enticing. The intimacy and playfulness of BDSM and sex are captured in such a poignant way that I could care less that it is not a genre I usually reach for when picking up comics.
Contains bondage, discipline, domination, submission, sadism, and masochism.

Faithless
CONTAINS GRAPHIC CONTENT
Genre: Erotica, Thriller, Supernatural/Occult
BOOM! Studios
Writer: Brian Azzarello
Art: Maria Llovet
AndWorld Design
Trigger warning: this comic contains depictions of non-consensual hypnosis.
Faithless follows Faith – a witchy, frustrated artist with the ability to wish things into existence – through a familiar journey about creatives who make a deal with the devil. She has friends, yet her gifts isolate her, and she wants to explore her powers and prove her artistry to the world. How far is Faith willing to go to be famous, and how should she use her mystical gifts? It is a classic tale of “girl meets girl, they bang, then she meets her lover’s sketchy, problematic father, they also bang, people die, then things get weirder” It is easy to get lost in all the sex, but lust – and a nuanced love story that lingers other the surface – moves the story forward. Most of the time. Maria Llovet’s art and playful colors brighten what should be a dark story and make me forget that there are forces of evil at play. But it is the overall audacity and risk involved in depicting the sexual acts, the way Faith explores her own sexuality with multiple partners, and the massive “people with uteruses have periods and maybe you should get over it” mentality that makes it a horny comic I highly recommend. Great if you have some weird religious hang-ups, you’re a frustrated creative, have a thing for charming, devilish men with broken moral compasses, and open relationships. It is unapologetic as it delves into squick territory and essentially embraces what people consider gross. To quote one of the characters: “I can’t think of one sensibility you aren’t offending.” Truly a taboo grab-bag of highly questionable choices and sinful, squick-inducing delights.
XXX content includes witchy hypnosis Femdom against three creepy, handsy perverts in an alley, dream sequences about your girlfriend turning into her father mid-coitus, exhibitionism, masturbation, f/f, m/m/m, m/f/f, genitalia turning into monster cocks, and faces turning into genderless vulvas with vagina mouths, demon threesomes, and probably much more to come in the final act of the series.
Issue #1 of Faithless III was released on Feb 9th and is available online and at your local comic shop.
Faithless I and II are free with Comixology membership. Black bag variant covers are available on the secondary market.

I Roved Out in Search of Truth and Love
CONTAINS GRAPHIC CONTENT
Genre: Fantasy
Webcomic – https://irovedout.com/
Writer and artist: Alexis Flower
This Webcomic follows two lady elves- Maeryll and Cinder-on their daring, fantasy (mis)adventures. Cinder is brazen, talkative, and straightforward. Maeryll balances her with a more aloof attitude and sharp wit. The supporting cast of fellow eccentrics of the human and not-so-human variety make for a colorful and varied world. The overarching plot feels big- a prophecy hangs over one of the main characters, there’s shipwrecks and curses- but there’s always time for side quests. Flower’s artwork has a painterly approach with an exceptional understanding of lighting and color theory. The fantasy environments are lush and detailed. I sometimes forget I’m reading an adult webcomic and not looking at a book of concept art. That is until another saucier part comes up, and I’m re-focused on Flower’s ability to render flesh in such a simple but realistic way. And there is a LOT of flesh, of various shapes and sizes…and girths.
I adore this comic because, above all else, sex is fun. The exact emotional tone and flavor change from one situation to the next, but it always seems like those involved are enjoying it immensely. There’s also a certain freedom to how the characters pursue sexual gratification; there’s no stigma leveled at LGBTQ+ identities or how much or how little they want to engage. Although the main plot does not require sexy things per se, time is made for characters to do as they please. Most characters view sex as a purely natural activity, as important as eating and sleeping, and the degree of emotional connection is entirely up to those involved. Lastly, there is a slippery shower scene in a nunnery. That alone is why I would throw my vote at this particular webcomic.
XXX content includes; f/f. m/f, group sex/orgies, BDSM, tentacles, and relations between a host of fantasy creatures.
